I picked both of these reels up for only $28. I thought the handle on that Fox reel was worth that alone. Sweet Grip
Anyway, my thought is that these reels were made in the Ocean City plant. Fox Division.. All because of the lever on the Chikatee. - Anyone have any thoughts or knowledge on these reels? Lay it on me..
Fantastic find! You are a wizard at finding catalogs and interesting fishing tackle paper. The Fox logo with the target is great. I have a Fox model B double barrel shotgun that Santa brought me in 1952 when I was 12 years old and I never thought to check Fox Gun Co. for a Fox Co. fishing reel catalog. Thanks
I've accumulated quite a few Fox and Kingfisher(Tryon) reels over the years. The saltwater Fox reels with the dark brown side plates are readily available. The amber colored side plate variety are not easily found. The Fox "tear drop" bait casters are are also relatively easy to acquire, whereas the "round" side plate bait casters seem to be non-existent. Fox reels have a crossover appeal to Fox gun collectors who want to display a Fox reel with their antique Fox shotgun. I've had success locating Fox reels at vintage firearm shows for this reason. I have yet to find a Fox reel box, this one is from the A.H. Fox Gun Collectors website(posted by "loggy"). I'll post pictures of some Fox and Kingfisher reels in my collection in the near future.
