I have a Shakespeare Kalamazoo Superior 1962 that i want to put in working order. It's missing the handle and spindle end caps, but the main problem is the threads to secure the handle nut are worn smooth. I can't just replace that main gear assembly because the sides of the shaft are flattened, i think because of that unique backlash control nut that is part of the handle assembly. I'm not sure if there is enough metal left on the shaft end to re-work the threads with a die, but i'd like to try. Has anyone done this, and does anyone know what die size is needed?
Thanks!
