What's the little button for? Pflueger Sea King

Post by JoeW »

Picked up this Pflueger Sea King yesterday. Can NOT figure out what the little button below the logo is for! It's spring loaded- pull it out, it pops back in! I'm guessing it's some kind of an oiling port? How's that sound? Thanks- I appreciate the info. Best---- Joe Walkowski (ORCA)

It's more like a set screw for the quick take-apart head plate. Might be spring loaded, can't recall. Unscrew, pull away from plate, unscrew head plate to remove spool. Much like Penn Jigmaster, Squidder, etc. Same feature on the Pflueger Capitol and their other similar surf reels.

Got a spare reel stamped "Pflueger" or a Montague Imperial?

Thank you, Brian! That's an odd "easy takedown", I never would have thought of that! But after reading your reply, I searched "Sea King Easy Takedown" and came up with a video explaining how it works. Now I just have to work up the nerve to try it! Here's a link to the video---
