New member from Europe

Post by Bilch »

Hello everyone!
My name is Hubert and I’m from Slovenia. I’ve been a passionate fan of old fishing reels for many years (and a fisherman for a few years longer). I own a fairly large collection of vintage reels, mostly consisting of old DAM Quicks. So if anyone ever needs information about DAM reels, I’ll probably be able to help.
Early on in my research into old reels, I stumbled upon Penn reels and was immediately fascinated. Unfortunately, they’re quite hard to find here in Europe, and when they do show up on eBay, they often go for ridiculously high prices. It seems they weren’t widely sold in this part of the world - the only ones that appear more frequently are those from the SSM/SSG series and newer releases.
So far, I only own two: a 430SS, which I bought from a fellow forum member, and a new 407Z I ordered from the US. Recently, I had the chance to buy a 710 at a reasonable price, and that’s what finally brought me here - I have a few questions about this particular reel.
Looking forward to learning more and joining the discussions!

There are definitely some nice ones :D - the entire DAM 110–550N series, for example  But I only fish them occasionally (except for the Penn 704Z and Daiwa 4000SS). I keep the filled spools for them in a drawer, along with the old reels I use more regularly.

Thanks, Richard! I’ve written a few articles on some reels in the past - with a bit of rewriting, I think a couple of them could be a good fit here. I’ve covered reels like the DAM Quick Super and the DAM Quick Microlite. I’ll definitely keep it in mind!
