Reel Values

Post by irbyh@yahoo.com »

I would like to purchase a book that will give values of the reels I have in my collection. My reels are all Shakespeare made from 1931 to 1956. Any suggestions?

You can find a copy of Stu Lawson's Price Guide to Old Fishing Reels, 3rd edition pretty easy or you can order direct from Monterey Bay Publishing at http://orcaonline.org/reference_books.htm

Brian gave you some good advice. It seems to be the "Bible" of reel prices at the present time, at least a good general all around guide. Don't go by Karl White's "picture book"! Most of the prices he lists are way high. Probably as a tax write-off for when he donated his collection.

:D Thanks for your votes of confidence, guys. While I swore I'd never do another price guide, I am now preparing a 4th edition of the reel guide. It's still a long way off in the future and might come out in two versions, one all text like before and another with some pictures.
