Bronson/Shakespeare?/Schmid Law suit

Post by orourke »

Dr. Todd (TEAL) made mention in one of his recent strings of William Schmid cofounder of Bronson Reel Company being at the heart of the "Big Lawsuit."

I asked a question at the end of the string but no one has answered. Can you, I am sure, re-enlighten me as to the context of the law suit?

And I'll ask here what I asked at the end of Dr. Todd's string. Did the law suit have any bearing on William Schmid leaving the Bronson Reel Company while still in its formative years?

A Bronson boy asking for local history. Thanks!

Dave,

Drop me a PM with your email address, I will email you a copy of the upcoming lawsuit article. The Schmid patent was at the heart of the lawsuit, and Bronson was brought in as an unwilling partner in the lawsuit by Enterprise.

Cheers,

Dr. Todd

Milt:

Now I am offended. You guys kiddingly demote me from Manager to Mayor all the time. I can handle that. But now you seem to think I'm stupid and lazy. Believe me if I had all the Bronson Reel Company files in the City vault I'd be in there with an easy chair and a cold beverage taking them all in.

I have got most of my Bronson information from the clubs library. The local paper does a "look back" column that helps from time to time. There are also two volumes of Branch County History that mention the Bronson Reel Company.

Always looking for more!

By the way. Bronson has lost its only grocery store. We have Walmarts and a Meijers in towns 15 miles East or West of us. I'm told they forced the 25 year local guy out. Says he was doing $65,000 a week gross. Anybody want to try life in Bronson? 2500 very nice people! Beautiful Branch County Michigan. Many lakes nearby. Only a couple hours to Lake Michigan or three to Lake Erie.

I'm serious if you are call the office 517-369-7334

Ho Hummm,
Mayor, Manager, Fire Chief, Garbage collector,Yatta Yatta, whatever! We still love ya!
Lost your grocery store eh? Is that is like a one horse town losing their horse? I spent a week in Bronson one day. Had to leave early 'cause they were rollin' up the sidewalks.
You wouldn't have it any other way.

Dave, East and West is no go.
You really ought to consider an 8 mile expansion to the South. Your town should annex the bright growing borough of ORLAND INDIANA! My sister tells me the Orland Grogery gives special consideration to Bronson folks. There is a new banker who does wonderful loans too. (The Old one has some problems with the law)

Special, Special: Ttere is a new Clydesdale sleigh ride every week end. Those rides are on sleighs and they need snow. ( Cost only $10 a head. ) So being a little north, you may have an edge on getting some rides up in Bronson. Seems to me there is some space around City Hall to start.

Don't think they have a Mayor, or a McDonalds. Maybe the Bronson McDonalds could expand to the South too.

Just helping all I can.

Happy New Year. Dale.

ps. Missed you last week, but had to make a quick trip to South Bend to see the Lady Vols win over Notre Dame.
