Pflueger SUPREME bait caster
Pflueger SUPREME bait caster
I have found a Pflueger SUPREME bait casting reel marked made in the U.
S.A. It's only other markings are on the bottom of the rod attachment plate Which says patented and under this it says pat's pend.
Can anyone tell me some info about this reel? It needs a little cleaning but seems to work perfectly.
Thanks

Pflueger Supreme reel
From approx. 1920 until the late 1950s the Supreme was looked at as the standard to judge other reel against. Millions were sold at $20 to $35, which was very costly for a fishing reel, but everyone seemed to have saved their money for that once in a lifetime purchace. They were and still are a great fishing reel. So well made that most are still ready to be used with only a little cleaning. Since they were sold in such great numbers the collector value is pretty low. Only the early models will fetch over about $30, and if you know where to find them, $20 will buy a pretty nice common Supreme today.
Thanks for the info
Thanks Warren, This one looks like all it needs is cleaning and some new line. I may just have to go find me a good rod for it.

Supreme reel
Pat - I use 12lb. test braided nylon with a 5 or 5 1/2 ft. tubular steel rod in Med. action for large fish, or Light action for smaller lures and fish. Heddon Pal or True Temper are my choices. Great fun after only short practice time. You just might put your newer equipment in your next garage sale!
