I have an Orvis 1874 Reproduction fly reel that is nickel-plated brass with a detachable crank handle and wooden box. Dimentions are 2 7/8in. by 1/2 wide. This reel is a limited edition labeled as reel # 34 of 250 made. I know that orvis made similar reproduction reels in 1993 and 1994 however I can't seem to find out when this reel was listed in their catalog. Can anyone help. Thanks

I don't have your answer, but do remember that these reels were made in two series; the first, which was numbered, and the second, which was not. The second series was offered predominantly though the Orvis outlet in Manchester where they could be found on sale for as little as $100 at times.
I have seen enough of them to guess they may have been made in a pretty large quantitiy (over 1,000).
This is all just observation ...no confirmed facts.
