pflueger supreme reel
I have a pflueger supreme with slotted screws and the markings are:
1. on the handle side
pflueger
supreme
reg. pat. off.
level wind
anti-back-lash
there is no extra pawl housing
2. on the other side
patented
apr.3.1923. mar.30. 1926
other patents pending
is this some where between 1926 and 1927 as my info say 1927 had three patent dates on it. any info would be welcome
thanks ron

Pflueger Supreme
Ron, I think that you are right on with the dating of that reel. As far as the 3 patent supreme goes, I am going to have to be shown one. I am not at all sure the they exsist. Yes, there is 3 patent boxes and 3 patent paperwork, but as far as the reel itself, all I can say is "Show me one" Tight Lines, Bruce
Supreme patents
Ron-Two patents date to late 1926, three patents to 1927 (but three do not appear on a reel), four patents 1928. Hope this helps. Bob
3 patent reel
Hi Ram Just the discussion, that I was hoping to start. If there is a 3 patent model Supreme, and if that reel is unmarked, how do you identify the 3 patent model. I have 100s of supremes, have access to 100s more and have pfondled 1000s of these things, and have yet to see one that I can positivly identify as a 3 patent Supreme. Tight Lines, Bruce

The reel I have is clearly stamped with the two patent dates, but now my other question?
The reel has marbled knobs ( which may not orginal) is this true.
My info says it should have ivory knobs
I am getting my info from PFLUEGER PFACTS BY BOB MILLER

Supreme handles
This is what I was able to find in the limited number of Pflueger catalogs I have...Pre 1930 had Ivory Pyralin handles ( the photo is of a 4 patent 1928 model-I need to clean it), the 1930 catalog (1929 copyright) has Amber Pyralin handles, and then the next one I have is 1933 (1932 copyright) has Mottled Black and Ivory...Hope this helps...Jerry

Supreme patents
As far as I have been able to determine, there would be no way to tell the difference between a two, three, or four patent Supreme just looking at it as the numbers were simply added as the patents were issued, and the features had been on the reel possibly for years. That was covered in the "Patents Pending" designation. As to the knob color, defintely cream color pyralin in the 20s. If marbled on a two patent model, it was exchanged. If the patents are important for you to know what they were for, I suggest checking them out in my Enterprise Reel Patents book. If you don't have one get back to me and I will help (Bob) at:

Thank You for all the replys: I thought the handle had been changed. I also have another Supreme with 10 patents on the foot and the words Pflueger Sepreme are cast not stamped and the words oil and grease are gone.
Of another interest I have
TRUE BLUE
LEVEL WINDING REEL
100 yd. Capacity
No. 1956
This on the end and top of the box, the box is faded green.
The reel is brown bakealite and on the foot it says made in the USA
There are no other indentifing marks.
This is what I found on the internet. It is by Shakespeare and was a trade reel from the early 1930's
Any more info would be appreciated
