Could use some help with ID on this reel. The plates are bakelite or heavy plastic. The logo is a fish jumping from water with Made in USA under it. The number on the foot is 2762. I know it needs cleaning. There are no worn spots so I do not know what type of metal is under the plating.
I've got a similar reel. Does not have fish logo but on tail plate has : Monospool Reel, Lawrence 260, made in USA. Also has 2762 on foot and similar cross patch design on plates.
I recently 'serviced' a reel like this and thought that if it wasn't a Penn 'trade' reel, it was an amazing copy down to detail! Did Penn make trade reels?

They sure did make "trade" reels: Atlantic Ocean, Surf Angler to name a couple. The only thing about this reel that is unusual for a Penn or Penn trade reel is the cross hatched plates. And if I remember correct, the Monospool is an old Penn model name too.
cool-thumb jump USA , ok guys, Jerry, in OK. I have several of these in different names, Penn parts fit them OK , also Ocean City parts interchange gears, handles etc, My Thoughts and I am generaly wrong a lot, is that this was about the Time Penn started from a offshoot of OCEAN CITY! the person that most likly knows for certan is BEN Wright) and he is now doing research on the subject! I appreciate all the input. Is it the consensus that it is a Penn reel? A friend of mine that has cancer wanted me to sell this and a few more items for him so I wanted to find out what I could...If anyone on this board, or if you know of someone that may want it, I am open to fair offers. I would prefer to sell it here, but if, after a couple days, no one wants it I will go you know where...Once again, THANK YOU to all...Jerry
Geeze Len, you must be getting ready for the Geezer Group. It was just a year ago that Bruce Davis supplied readers of the Reel News with information about boxes full of round die stamps Penn used on their generic trade reels.
