It is with great sorrow that we relay this heart breaking news. After a long and painful fight with cancer, Ed Corwin passed away yesterday.

Ed and his wife Carolyn were one of the few couples actively involved in collecting tackle together and both maintained a presence at shows for many years. The Corwins were always giving of their time and being equally and very knowledgeable on a wide range of tackle categories, they would often go out of their way to help a fellow collector. They deeply enjoyed the time they spent at shows together as we all enjoyed their company.

Ed was a founding member of the FATC and served on the Board of Directors for years. He was enamored with all reels and was a serious collector. Also a long time and well respected member of ORCA.

As many of you witnessed over the last few difficult years, Carolyn worked tirelessly to make sure all of Ed’s needs were met and brought him to as many shows as his health would allow. Even when in the throws of treatment and certainly painful times, Ed always seemed truly happy to be at a show and be among his fellow collectors. Our hearts go out to Carolyn for the loss of her husband and best friend.

Carolyn has asked that no flowers be sent. We’re sure cards would be welcome and can be sent to: 517 Federal Point Rd. East Palatka, FL 32131.

We miss Ed’s smile and friendship already.

Ed,

We will continue to tell stories of you at our campfires for years to come.

Carolyn,

May you find peace in knowing he is now without pain. You set a standard of care and attention that few will ever be able to match - so may you also find peace in knowing you did all that was humanly possible to demonstrate your love.

With deep respect,

Len

You'd be hard pressed to find a collector that Ed hasn't helped in one way or another. He never hesitated to take out of his own time to send pictures of reels or copies of paperwork expecially if he knew it would help your research. Carolyn, be comforted by knowing how fondly Ed remains in our memories, and Ed, "May a thousand angels sing you to your rest." Jim

I remember meeting Ed & Carolyn at the first NFLCC/ORCA show at Pheasant Run in St. Charles, IL. Both were really extra nice folk to be around. Ed twisted my arm to write a cheesy article for the Reel News way back then when he was editor. He will be missed very much.

I chatted with Ed numerous times by phone and we talked at shows as well. He was always helpful and upbeat in spite of how he felt physically. He was an example to us all of how to face hardship with courage and a positive attitude. Thanks for taking such good care of him Carolyn. Bob

Some of the first reels I put into my collection came from Ed. He was a super nice guy.
