Golden West Midge Reel

Post by RAM »

I have a 60 yd. Golden West for sale. It has 3 radial cracks on the face plate but not serious as to the integrity of the plate-just cosmetic. Otherwise in very nice shiny condition. Bears serial number 3359. Strong click. Minor dings on edges but not noticeable, and color has faded somewhat brownish over the years. Would prefer this reel to go to an ORCA member who needs it in his collection, but if you want to resell it on Ebay and make a nice profit it won't bother me one bit. First $250.00 (postpaid) gets it. Contact Bob Miller:

The "Midge Reel" is my dreamed-up descriptive word for small, quality HR and GS reels that would look absurd on a 7 wt. 9 foot rod, but great on a 6 or 7 foot 4 wt. bamboo rod while casting midge-sized (18 and up) dry flies. Interesting that Enterprise thought up a few unfitting names (like Alpine for a big musky LW reel never used in the mountains) but missed a chance to call these little rascals midge reels. So much for hind sight! Skoal! Bob
