Oops, didn't realize I wasn't signed in. These are a small part of my reel collection. Only a couple of my best shown among them. These pictures were 10 years or so ago.

Younguy, it holds an Avalon, if you mean the one in the Gucci showcase.

Jeff, Could that be "Akerite" with an extra long box to hold an extra spool?

Brian, I have an Avalon in the box, thought that was what was in the case then. I've changed things around so much in 10 years, that I was just going my memory. It might have been as I have both, but I have no way to tell today.

Nice reels, especially that huge one - a Hardy?

Only reason I asked about the box is that an Akerite or maybe even a Sea King would have come in a long zebra patterned box like that due to the extra spool they sold with the reel. An Avalon would have come in a maroon box, it being a much earlier reel.

Brian, yep, a 5 1/2 inch Hardy Zane Grey. first big game reel I ever bought, and I hit a home run. Only 11 were made in that size. As far as I can tell mine may be the only one in that size that has ever surfaced. The 6 inch reel was the same overall size, lighter, and held more line. Since it sold for about the same price, most folks ordered it.

I've added a couple of dozen big game reels to it since then, including 3 Kovalovsky reels and a 12/0 Zwarg salesman's sample.

The biggest reel I have, though, is an unmarked winch of a cradle reel. Made very similar to some of the Coxe reels, but I think this reel was handmade by a master machinist. It is bigger than the 16/0 reels I have compared it to by a wide margin, and much wider. The frame is plated brass, the spool either brass or bronze, the gears bronze. Bakelite sideplates and metal rims. The handle is over 14 inches long. it has a lever drag, and a separate freespool lever.

The line on it is a bit smaller than a #2 pencil, but not by much.
