Fin Nor Help

Post by Reelman »

I have somebody That wants to sell a Fin Nor size is 800 yards. Reel plate diameter is 6 inches and the space between plates is 4 1/4 and the fishing pole it is on. The rod says “the Scion” built by “tycoon tackle and the length of rod is 6 ft 9 inches. I do not come across these reels up here on the hills very ofton. I do not know what a far price would be. If I buy the combo. It would be for trade.

Merv: I haven't seen enough of these in the last couple years to make a firm evaluation. i assume that it is likely a 12/0 with that diameter? Also, looks to be the multi-speed model where you pull out on the crank to change gears? In general, the silver reels don't command what the gold ones do. Rod is like I recently saw on an old Bronson Coxe cradle reel (sorry for all the free association...just grasping to say something useful). I would likely not be surprised at seeing $600-800 on it. Personally, I would be looking to plant my money elsewhere, if more than that and probably snapping it up, if offered for less.

Now, I've stuck my neck out...come on boyz, tell him how wrong I am! :D

Merv: There's been 4 or 5 of those rods up on eBay in the past 6 months, and I reported on several in my eBay report. You might look in the archives to get a value. There are probably several Fin-Nor reels like that over the past several years too, but I don't know.
