The new book is fantastic Phil. Great work. My intrest in Meisselbach has grown since I started collecting, in large part due to your research. It is much more fun when you know some of the history behind the reels you collect.

:D :) 8) :!: :?:   :type: jump yay-banana jump jump usa For those that dont have the New Meisselbach& Meisselbach-Catucci Fishing Reels BOOK, In my thoughts this is one item that should be in your things to own! the pics are absolutly the best quality you can actualy fix or work on your reel with this book, pgs 82 tru 83 saved the day for me. And for you folks that collect the (Automatic REEL , well now you can clean , lube and reasemble it with ease!page 109 on the (Ts) that is a excelent way to validate them) The pic on the aluminum shows how the level wind guide is suposed to go, after all it can also fit under the cross brace, thus it wont cast properly. page 124 shows the 2 cross bars, generaly one is mising or the thick and thin one is in the wrong place! And the Chapter on the Rabbeth Drag Handle now clears up the problem of identifying them! For the wooden reel colectors this lays aside all doubt to the who is whom on these often miss Identified reels! The chapter on color Colecting ? well you gota SEE IT! and that thumb Bar? did they copy it from MEEK? or did Meek Copy from them? and the FREE spool design, it seems as Phil Has said to me all along , J.A COXE coppied from them , not the other way around! Phil you have now settled the (dust) on a lot of questions, after all, cannot despute actual pics! Again this is one dedicated book that any reel collecter needs to read and see the pics! Now how do I keep the pages clean when working on a reel? posibly a pice of see thru wax paper? or celophane? Your ohio conection on Lake Erie, col. Milton lorens aka SWIM JIG

And another new book arrived today! Great job, Phil, as usual. I am so glad I got one of those surf reels with marble-ized plates for my "marble plated reel collection". Now all's I need is a marble Philbrook and Paine...RIGHT!

Phil, Great book! I just finished reading it, and you shed new light on many things. I have a spring wound trolling reel in my collection, and always assumed it was a line dryer!

I also found I had a few reels that were rarer than I thought.

But the worst thing you accomplished was making me want a Meisselbach detachable thumbrest!

Shame on you, unless you know where I can get one?

Do you take trades?

Hey Phil!

I have this rare and "vintage" piece of fishing memorabilia that I would be willing to trade for your new book. There is slight wear to the binding but all pages are intact and readable. I could probably throw in a little cash to sweeten the deal if I had to.

Seriously just when you thought you knew it all, someone writes a new book on the subject and you don't know Jack! So I gotta have a copy and continue my Meisselbach education at all costs! I hope you have one left.

Jack: I love to see nice examples of the quality binding used on the soft cover edition of the first book.

There are copies of the book still available. I will have some with me at the Convention next week, and still have some left here at home. I will not be back home until May 22, however, so none can be shipped until after that date.
