A friend of mine has this reel and was wondering if someone could date it for him...It is marked ""Flo Line, Lou Meyer Co. ,Kenosha, Wis., Pat Pend""It is in Stu's latest book but there isn't a date...

I have one new in box. And I can find no patent numbers on on the reel, box or paper work. . Other then it has no zip code. And it sold for $12.50 and the extra spools sold for $0.95. Maybe someone else can narrow it down more.

Quick search of the Reel News index shows you might find some info in this article: Meyer, Lou - Flo Line Universal Reel, by Stu Lawson, Spring/99, p 22

I just remembered I don't have any 1999 issues, haven't been a member that long...If someone would check it for me I would appreciate it...
Too much on my mind I guess

Just check it out. And I am sorry to say he does not list a date.

On one of phil White's web pages http://www.oldreels.com/ he list it as a 1940's to early 1950's. I would say he is right in the ball park.

Ben Wright dates it "ca. 1949." Couldn't have been much earlier, because who would have bought something like that before spinning reels became so popular?

Thanks guys, I appreciate it...1949 is close enough...That is what makes this club and this hobby so great----the willingness to help and to share...

Have a great evening.

I have advertisements in my files for 1948 and 1949.
