Id leather case
I have had this case for a while. And I would like to know what company reels came in these cases. It has 3504 stamped into the back of the case. So I am pretty sure it is not a after market case. I think I remember seeing one a long time ago with a America reel. But cases get miss matched all the time.

Merv,
K White shows this case with America ID on pg 328. The same case was in an eBay ad a yr age March with a Bronson Silver Princess reel. Maybe some other ORCAs saw the same eBay item. Beautiful reel and case. Price went out of sight. I downloaded photo with reel, and can send if you want. Too big to post here.

I think ...
I think those cases were sold separately as aftermarket items and that is why we find do many different kinds of reels in them.

I was thinking it might. But that number 3504 stamped into the back of the case. Makes me think this one would have held a reel with that same number stamped on. I mean if it was a store or stock number. It would have been on a tag or tape or something. Not large and heavly stamped into the leather.

I think it is the model number of the case.
Just my 2-cents ..and worth half what you paid!

I have seen a lot of cases over the years with four-digit numbers on them. Never three, or five, always four. I think there is somehting to that.
Maybe 3504 means something like 3" diameter, 5" deep, style 04 ?

Merv,
Are the numbers stamped on End opposite the opening, or somewhere else?
I have two cases marked "5055" on the End. These two are different sizes. One is the Standard size of a Southbend Case, and the other is larger across the flat side, i.e., 2-7/8" vs 2-5/8" , but same overall length. The large case is same size as the Shakespeare President's Case.
The smaller case has a stamped name "Bradley Grimes Co." in a circular ring on the End. Don't know if this is name of reel co., or case. Since the name is in a ring, it could also be Grimes Bradleye Co.
I have one other Case marked "55". This case is same size as the smaller case above. No other markings. The number size is the same on all three cases, about 5/16" high letters.
Southbend/Shakespeare seem to fit Case sizes, so the numbered case may have been a supplier for trade reels. The Bronson/Coxe case has a different shape, so no connection there yet. Also, believe Heddon had a leather reel case, but I do not have one to compare.
Hope this helps.
