MEISSELBACH CRANK

Post by hurdpete »

Hi Folks:
I've recently acquired a Meisselbach 581, with the Elyria,Ohio address on the foot. It's a nice little reel, and works fine after antique gunk removal, but one thing puzzles me - the crank knob. Every picture of a Meisselbach I've seen has the same crank knob, with the little ridge on the crank end. Mine is not only a different color, but a different shape with no ridge. The crank handle itself looks like the other Meisselbachs, and it seems to be the correct material (nickel silver)- is this crank from another brand of reel or is there more than one kind of knob for Meisselbach? Thanks for the help. Pictures are hopefully attached.

HP:
It is a replacement knob and screw.
I might have a whole crank to send you. I'll take a look and get back... sometime.

If Phil doesn't have one, I have several lying around. Yup, right handle, wrong knob.

Your handle is better! put the right one in the drawer and enjoy the novelty til you want to sell it!

Don: Go ahead and send him one. Then I won't have to stop fishing long enough to look for one and package it. Bert and I are off to the Snake River in about 30 minutes.
