Anyone have details about this drag mechanism/reel?

Post by john elder »

I stole this pic off a recent auction..was taken by the apparent "click" settings for what appears to be the drag mechanism on the reel...looks elegant..any schematics or details? Why is this not seen more often?

John, it's the size that counts. The Perfections used EVH's 1896 "Adjustable Automatic Silent Tension Drag," pat. no. 563,964. The seller, who's more knowledgable than the rest of us, stresses the 2/0 sizeness of the reel, which is a size larger than any he has seen in catalogs. Perfections aren't seen more often because they are among the world's most highly desirable reels and are worth a lot, even in "normal" sizes.

Thanks for the info, Steve...that is such a sweet reel! I've just got to stay the heck away from fly reels...unless they are wood :D

A Restigouche by any other name ...

Well, heck. If you'll buy that, we have a rare 4/0 multiplying Perfection available.
