Rogue Model 150 spinning reel

Post by rogue »

Just recently started collecting vintage spinning reels and didn't realize until recently { bought the Wright Price Guide for the Reel Man} that there was a reel named after the Rogue river here in Southern Oregon where I reside.

Am tired of waiting for this reel to show up on e-bay, was wondering if any member had one to sell. Thanks.

Great site by the way.

Since you live on/near the Rogue, you might want to join us in ORCA and get the back issue of the Reel News (November 2003) with an article about Rogue reels. It tells the history of the company and the reels.

And, welcome to Reel Talk.

Thanks for the info, I read a good article by Phil White in Old Reels.com that talked about the history of the reel.

At this point I am just waiting { somewhat impatiently} for an e-bay listing or an ORCA member who wants to help a brother out.

Rogue 150

Post by FSREPAIR »

Hi rogue,

I have one in excellent condition with an extra spool but I won't be selling mine anytime soon. The good news is that sooner or later one will show up on Ebay. I know this is not what you wanted to hear but a big part of collecting any type of reel is to learn to be patient. These reels were not made in a day and neither does one acquire a collection of reels overnight. I can't speak for everyone but I am sure there are plenty who will tell you that sometimes it takes years before finding a particular reel. It took me 5 years to find one spin reel and 6 years for another. I am certain there are other collectors who have waited much longer than that and probably a few reels that you may wait a lifetime to find, if at all. In the mean time there are lots of very neat reels you can add to your collection while you are waiting for that special one. Randy

I'll send my greetings too and second geezer's recommendation to join and get that back issue with the article on Rogue reels. And by the way, the fella who was the first to greet you is the same that wrote the Oldreels.com article

I understand that patience is a virtue with most things in life, and vintage reel collecting is no different.

I am also realizing that this can be a very expensive hobby.

Oh well, it makes me happy. Not so much my wife though.

Thanks for your replies.
