Need a Really big Sampo Ball Bearing Swivel

Post by drexelantiques »

Did Sampo make anything bigger than a 130 lb class ball bearing swivel?

I need one at least that big, and preferably bigger.

Not for fishing, I'm trying to squirrel proof a birdfeeder and have very clever and determined squirrels.

Just need one, which is why I didn't turn to the tackle catalogs.

Thank you for your help.

If I had 130 lbs squirrels in my back yard I'd run like hell and move to somewhere else asap !

No, just kidding, why so heavy duty ?
You made me curious, that's all.

I am hanging the feeder from a chain, and will need to put big split rings on the swivel, the bigger the swivel, the bigger the split rings it will accept, plus the feeder, full, probably will weigh 15lbs, and a heavier swivel will perform for many more years (plus it will look better to not have a tiny little swivel as the weak link in the chain.). I've got all my wind chimes and etc. ont he sampo swivels and they last many years without replacement.

You might consider a snap/swivel for a dog leash. Available in stainless steel and never rust.

Better yet, just tie the dog up to the tree under the feeder. I battled them varmits for years. Now I have my feeder in a long thin wire. Everytime I refill it, I just apply a thick coat of heavy grease to the wire. Everytime they try to climb down the wire, they start slideing and jump off. Not only that, They hate to get anything on their feet and will finally quit trying to get to the feeder.
