Here a man witha very tuff 4 Bros Flyreel I am sure somebody here could help him
have found a small 2 1/4 inch flyreel. Its marked Four Brothers
"Egalite" #903, It is all metal, Wood handle with counterbalance. I have photos to send, but need help posting. Dave Keyeck

VG+ condition for that reel.
Side plates are aluminum - usually don't see paint left on them.

Reelman-That scarce little rascal sold for $1.20 in 1931. Only made for a couple of years (couldn't take too much misuse hence the difficuly in finding one in nice shape). You would be amazed what they have gone for on Ebay!
PS The name is properly pronounced "E-golly-tay". It is French for "Equality". Shouted in the streets along with "Liberte" and something else they were all "het up about" during the French Revolution. Seemed like an uppity handle for a reel, but it was cheap enough for the poorest fly fisherman so hence the name I assume. Who would believed than it would have gone up a hundred times (or more) in value! Pronounce it anyway you want to. Still worth the same.

I have the same reel but # 1902. Missing the top post and screws and another screw of larger head size. Trying to get it "original" as possible. Spins like a top though...
