L.M. Dickson reel

Post by Spence »

I found this reel at a yard sale and although I know a little bit about fly reels, I hadn't heard of this maker: L.M. Dickson, a #106 Maginot. It has a double-ended handle with ruby grips, and something resembling a star drag. A curious reel but appears to be fairly well made, and in excellent condition. Thanks, Spence Conley

French multiplying fly reel.
In EX condition, they bring about $30.

Hi,

L.M. Dickson wasn't a maker, but an importer--mostly of Japanese made tackle but also as noted French reels as well. Earliest I have found Dickson referenced is around 1955. Very popular brand throughout the 1960s carried by a number of hardware and sporting goods stores.

Cheers,

Dr. Todd
