More interesting packing material

Post by Brian F. »

I've received some reels with strange things used as packing material before but this last one was a riot! I'm not sure what the origin of this thing was and did not dare ask the seller but I did handle it cautiously  I did get a kick out of the seller's sense of humor  . Thank goodness reel packages come to my office - I could just imagine the look on my family's face as I unrolled everything on the living room floor  I must admit that it did make for some excellent "padding".

Spacing this post out and making you scroll down for dramatic effect...

I got one of those the other day...and it wasn't at the office! I threw it in the trash quickly...should probably have shown it immediately, in case it was accidently discovered...but I think I ducked :) I knew the sender and accused him of cross-dressing :D

Dang...I think that's the most nonsequitur-ish packaging I've ever seen.

Looks like a nice old slip, though (I collect vintage clothes).
That fine reel was well, uh.. escorted.

Strange Packing Material

Brian,

You could return the joke by sending the seller an email telling him/or her that pink/peach is not your color and request one in blue or green! Ha! Randy

A super board poster just speculated on "Gurlymen" in another post and how they may have affected reel designs. I think you just found one.

Shear delights!

Post by RAM »

My Templar arrived, if you please,
Daintily wrapped in a chemise!
My momentary delight
Soon changed to shear fright!
"If found, it will be my demise!"

I think it would only be right for anybody that recieved a reel wrapped in something like that, that they would have to model it for the masses. Just be careful and not get the lace around the bottom snagged on those jagged lava rocks while making that big cast. That might ruin it for the Beach Bash on Friday night!

Victoria!

Brian: Your post (and "dramatic effect" spacing) almost brought me to tears of laughter. I think this might be basic corporate diversification by Victoria's Secret, moving into the collectible reel trade. Did you pay for the reel or did you actually order the ... er... undergarment and they put the reel in for ballast?

It's just clever marketing. Isn't that a Pfluezie reel?

Maybe it is just their way of saying they like you. They really really like you.

Chemise wrap

By golly Steve, you are right! It's a Pfluzie Tempter!

How could you and Teal let such a golden opportunity for one of of your erudite limericks pass?

Exactly the kind of responses I knew you all would entertain us with!

Harvey, can't get in it since it's not my size and John, you're right too, it's not my color - I look horrible in peach.

Molli if you would like it, I'd be more than happy to send it over. Please take it!

Actually, I bought the Pfluzie Tempter reel because the seller stated that it was given away in the late 1920s with the slip as a way to promote sales amongst the gangster crowd for their "flapper" -type girlfriends.
