Pflueger Progress

Post by Farace »

Finally looked in the right box and found my Pflueger Progress. It says 60 on the foot. Ron, is the frame on this one of those things that shouldn't be put in the vinegar/water solution? If so, how best to clean the frame? (And if so, I assume it's still okay to soak the spool.)

Hmm, so I searched the board and while I thought this was a painted brass frame, maybe it's gunmetal? I'll have to look closer and at least give it a bit of a toothbrushing with plain water.

Looking at completed eBay auctions, the prices seem to be anywhere from $30-90, and if there's a distinction between them, it's escaping me. Not that I'll get rid of this one. (I'm sorely tempted to use it.)

gunmetal frame, plated spool.

watch the plating in the vinegar bath, but I've pushed them to 3 hours before. If they're clean earlier, quit.
I suspect you will have some brassing of the spool, though, under those blue deposits.
Great little reels.

Great little reels
Yes, they were a pretty good copy of the Meisselbach Featherlight, but not up to the quality standards set by Gus.

Just Pfooling with you Pflueger Pfiends.

Well, okay, then, I'll carefully soak it and see how it turns out. That's a good link, Ron, thanks; I guess this is a 1783.
