It's Reelman's Birthday Today
and I'd like to send him a Get Well Soon wish and a Happy Birthday today as he's gone in to the hospital for what will hopefully be a short stay. You need to get back to rooting around again in those boxes of reels that you got lying about , Merv!

Thanks for the well wish's. I hate Diabetes. But it looks like the saved the leg again. It was not where I wanted to spend my birthday. Or the first day of deer season. But I have plans to watch the side hills in the morning for deer to walk by. Normally I go out back of my house on my small farm and get my deer. But since I can not stand more then a minute or two. I will sit by my house and hunt. It does have its advantages living here in the hills. The deer some times lay down ten feet from the house. But then if you come home after dark. It pays to look and make make sure those black and whites cats. Are really cats. Almost made it to the door once. Not paying to much attention. Just as I was pulling to key out of my pocket. I looked down. And there was the whole family. Mother and five babies. I quickly made the decision. That if my wife wanted in the house she was more the welcome to unlock the door and go in. I was going to lay on the hood of the car and watch the stars for a while. And let mother and babies wonder off.

Hello Merve:
While I haven't had the pleasure of conversing with you, I have enjoyed reading your stuff for some time. Sounds like a beautiful place you live in back there.
My younger brother lives un a quiet area near Mendocino in northern California, on a 20 acre plot in the redwoods. Years ago while making breakfast in his kitchen, he spotted a fine buck close to the house, ran and grabbed his trusty Winchester 30-30, and slowly opened the kitchen window. Unfortunately, the deer also saw the window opening, and was off and running. George told us that he wished that he had just fired the shot through the glass, as he gave up some fine venison to save a three dollar window pane.
Best wishes to you Merv.
Jim

My wife has already got the screen out of the window. And has made it very clear what would happen if I forgot to open the window. In reality my wife is the best wife a man could hope for. How many wife's would. Go on the hill and pick up the deer you shot. And drag it out of the woods until we can get to it with the four wheeler. Hang it up in the garage. And skin and gut the deer. Just about all by her self. And then I can help butcher it in the house. But I really hear about it. If I hit the deer in the body and mess up the meat. But even if I could go fishing. She draws the line at fish. She will not eat them or clean them. She has really has had to step up and take over jobs. I should be doing. Since I got hurt at work. She even took over. My reel repair shop until we had to stop. She loves to clean the reels. Any more she rarely asks for help taking the reels apart or back together again.
