Sorry...there I go shooting from the hip again...should have outgrown that by now...in any event, the above comment was not meant as a personal attack. However, I think if we go down the Ebay path past using it to educate re reels and to point out potential fraud, the board will quickly turn into a billboard...but then, who died and left me sherrif?!
Nah
I agree John, eBay ads are pretty annoying - I spend too much time there anyway! With a g*bass*illion people looking over the listings, I can't see how putting up a billboard ad for few reel collectors will help an auction that much more. Everyone likes to see stuff offered for sale outside of ebay but eBay ads are just clutter. With that, I'll keep my shameless "want ad" signature!
I agree with John's first message. eBay ads are Reel Talk's equivalent of spam. If everyone who sells there posted a message about each item, the board would be overwhelmed.
I'd like to hear our esteemed webmaster's opinions of the following possible solutions:
1. Ban all direct advertising of tackle items, whether on eBay or by list, while permitting sellers at least to solicit email inquiries for lists.
2. Ban just eBay advertising.
3. Require any advertising messages to include "ADV:" in the subject line.
4. Have a separate Board for sales (by ORCA members only).
5. Permit advertising, eBay or private, but charge a fee.

Darn, Just as i was gonna unload a bunch of stuff the I knew that you guys would have an interest in!
I vote to add another board like the "TEST FORUM" board and keep the garbage there and if that can't be done, BAN it with a message above the board. I agree with what Joe Yates does. Remember how bad "Anglers-On-Line" was? I am not against one posting items for sale. I, myself, would prefer to give other reel collectors a chance at what I am going to sell before it goes to the "bay" but I am not in favor of advertizing your junk here just to up the chances of more bidders.
I am through!

eBay
I vote for the separate forum for Sales. That's the way this type of message board should work anyway.
e-bay NOT !
I agree( whatever that`s worth) with Phil, separate forum. But not in auction form. Too much Bleepin` Bleep as on `Bay
