Shakespeare tournament reel value
Picked up a well used shakespeare model 26 tournament reel. Must have been someone's favorite reel to use by the looks of it. After a cleaning a few drops of REEL X oil it spins like crazy. Amazing how freely these reels spin the quality is top notch. I have to admit dont know much about reels my main interest is lures but I do pick up reels from time to time. Would someone help me with a value and some information on this reel. It will be for sale or trade for lures or lures boxes I can use. Thanks ...Jerry NFLCC member

re: Shakespeare Tournament reel
Jerry,
I didn't see any numbers on the reel anywhere. Is it possible the numbers 1744 are on it somewhere? I presume the Model 26 is stamped on the bottom of the foot. Is that correct. If it is indeed a 1744 model 1926 it would be worth somewhere in the $100-150 range. Let me know what it says.

Hi Bill,
I checked the reel over with a glass and I can not find any numbers anywhere? Looked on the reel foot, side plates, and pillars nothing. It is possible they were rubbed off from use. Wish the reel was in better shape, any places I over looked to find any other numbers. Appreaciate you taking the time to help me out...Jerry
