Just wondering in what year Penn stopped using the reel seat without the rod clamps, on their Squidders?Got my eye on one at the moment.

Hi down there! Are you looking at one with a Newell conversion? ...I guess i wasn't aware that they ever stopped using the standard plated reel seat direct from the factory...but then, I may just have missed the point...not the first time

No John,definately an old original.They were first manufactured in the late 1930s.First one I've seen.On the old Penn site in the history section,there is a picture of one.
