I have recently come across a Shakespeare #1280 5 1/2' fishing rod. Now I emailed Shakespeare to get some info on it and my response was is was made in 1939. It is in mint condition.
Now I am a big hunter by nature, so I know how interested outdoorsman are about past items. I am just looking for some help on what to do. I am trying to contact some local antique dealers but thought the listening audience would know more about this product. I appreciate any help in this matter and thank you in advance.
Discovered Antique Shakespeare Fishing Rod
Sharkey--
I wish I could give you better news, but there is probably not much of a market for your 1939 Shakespeare rod. Please understand that I can't give you specific information, because I haven't seen the rod. But I suspect its value is between $50 and $75.
If the rod weren't in mint condition, I would say it probably had very little, if any, value. You may consider hanging on to it and passing it along to a relative.
