hardy rels

Post by fxxxy »

I have 2 Hardy spinning reels. One is in a leather finished cardboard box, is rather small, about the size of a Mitchell 308 and is labeled "hardex"
The other is a right hand crank, marked "Altex" MK V. Any info on these? Is there a Hardy website out there?

the Altex Mk I actually came out 5 years before the Hardex, c. 1932.

Both were also made after the war, the Hardex until 1959, the Altex until 1966.

The Altex MkV IMO, is is the best spinning reel ever made. Value on a Mk V in EX condition is about $200-225.
Value on a boxed Hardex is about $125.
