Shakespeare Direct Drive (No1950) Model C Reel

Post by phantomfisher »

Hi

I have just aquired a Shakespeare Direct Drive (No1950) Model C multiplier which is missing a part/parts from the left hand side plate (opposite side from the handle). :(

The spool spindle pokes through the side plate and should presumably recess into a small housing or tension knob assembly! As I am unfamilier with this reel I am unsure exactly what parts are missing and if it is possible to replace and fix? :?

If anybody can advise I would be very grateful.

Cheers

:) 8) :!:  :type: This part may be a bit hard to aquire, it is press fitted in, and has the serated copper colored pice on it , ie thats the part that holds the bearing spool cap on so you can adjust the tension on the spool. Thes frames are known a rivited frams south bend also has a model like it the modle 740 md. b . the part may be a bit hard to aquire, and if you go to parts is parts, look for dick Janiks name and email him, also you may want to try Sponskys reel repair box 307 168 Sponsky Road Elmora PA. 15737 ph# ( 1-814-948-6970) 10:00 am est to 6:pm mon to sat closed on sunday , his name is bill sponsky. You will need to place a shaft the same size as the spool inside the bushing hole when you get both pices aligned then tap with a brass or coper hamer to expand the part to a good friction tight hold then you will need a bearing cap to fit on the assembly, lightly lube with silicone or teflone greese and adj. If you fin the spool binds a tad, ie hole is compresed too much, take a fine round jewlers file and a very few rubs at a time untill the spool is free in the bearing part of the part. relube and aseemble and adj, reel should work just fine! Hope this is of some help. If you send me a sellf addresed stamped envelope I will mail back a picturdiagram of your reel as done by the shakesperr factory, Your Ohio Conection Col. milton Lorens 759 Terra Lane Amherst Ohio 44001-1116-07 united states
