Nice one Jerry! Both the reel and the box are kind of tough to find and it looks like its in great shape.

Nice reel, Jerry! What makes the "M" reel more suitable for monofilament line?

I recently got the lefty version of the 1993, with all the goodies in a 1956 box:

But the box says 1993-L:

Now, as a deprived Lefty in a Righty world, I'm used to being stepped on...did they bother to make a 1993-A box?

Also, the stamp for the 1993-A is schmucked for some reason on an otherwise perfectly minty reel:

Anyyone seen this type of thing before?

They did indeed make a box for the 1993A.

John, I forgot about your other question. The 1983M has a different spool than the standard models. The spool was apparently designed for mono line.
