Help with Orvis

I was looking at a couple of reels at father's house last sunday when he asked if the "brain trust" might know anything about a fly reel that he was holding so I put the Miesselback down next to the Mitchell AUT' and the Julius Vom Hoffe next to the Schultz Fire Island N.Y. reel and had a look.

It's a fly reel that he recieved from another collector. About four inches in diameter and brown in color, it was tagged "Orvis 'Beginner'".

Does anyone know anything about such a reel? Thank you in advance.
