Shakespeare eye candy pict help maybe

Post by Chad S »

I don't know if picts will show up not used to this format yet. I have been begging for these 2 things for 2 or 3 years and I finally got both of them about a month apart. This is a pretty early reel 1935-1936 only (I think) as as I found out it was not to easy to find. Pictured is a #1880 Shakespeare Muskegon Trout reel in the correct box, for a tough reel to me anyway it sure doesn't get much recognition. Anyway I just wanted to show my new addition. And if my pictures don't come up I would appreciate some help. Chad S

Chad, I concur. The Muskegon is indeed a very tough reel to find, much less the box itself. The Manistee is about as tough.
What I'd like to know is WHO made these Bakelite reels...Shakespeare, Horrocks-Ibbotson or some other 3rd party? Besides teh Muskegon & Manistee, the Vernley & Jordan and the VERY, VERY tough Steelhead reel by HI----it's the same as the 1899/1900 SP version. Randy
