Thanks Brian
WPnder when the switch was made from "F" to Sea Hawk?
Many times ORCA contributors have referred to the excellent article about Models F & K in Penn's 2005 catalog. I presume this is still the definitive answer to your Q:
"Otto Henze spent the Fall of 1932 ordering parts and assembling his reels. As 1933 approached, Mr. Henze decided to change the names of the MOD F and MOD K reels before they were introduced to the marketplace. New plug stamps were engraved and boxes with labels were produced for "three" different reels -the SEA HAWK, the BAYSIDE, and the LONG BEACH. The MOD F became the SEA HAWK, the MOD K with no star drag became the BAYSIDE, and the MOD K with a star drag became the LONG BEACH. Actual sales invoices confirm that these 3 reels were first sold in February 1933."
"ORCA members Gary Davis and Gary Quick" are credited "for helping us (Penn) piece together our (Penn's) early history".
I still keep hoping to stumble across 1 of these early 3 post Penns at a fleamarket of yardsale someday.

Thanks For The Great Information
So that means the reel, the Steelers and myself all happened in 1933! Since I sort of collect 33 stuff, I am glad I didn't unload the Sea Hawk. THANS AGAIN

To show the interior of the reel
didn;t want to take mine apart, do all the early reels have the marks on the inside of the side plates and the domed click button?
