It is likely that not one of you watched either sunrise or sunset Monday being impressed that it was one of those little astronomical phenomena that we just take for granted. After all, what else can we do?
Still, I think it is neat that twice a year the sun rises precisely in the east and sets precisely in the west everywhere on Earth-north pole to south pole and everywhere between. Exactly twelve hours with sunshine, twelve without. It would be kind of boring if Earth's axis was alined 90 degrees to the ecliptic. That 23 1/2 degree tilt makes for a bit of variety-except for old Brian, who has temps in the 70s and 80s all winter and summer. At least the number of daylight hours change for him seasonally.
Bad Bob (who is flaky enough to find such things of interest, realizing that such has virtually nothing to do with reel collecting. Nor does anything else he posts here)
