Have you ever been trousing?
Have you ever seen a trouse?
Are they always in season?
It occurs to me that more men have sought this elusive game in futility than any other. We all wear trousers, but not one male human has ever been known to bag a trouse. Grouse, yes, but not trouse! And maybe a louse or two on occasion. Certainly a mouse from time to time.
We may end up with baggy trousers, but the bag is never filled with trouses!
Never give up and don't discard your trousers. You will need them because trouses are out there somewhere!

Pick your definition Deke. I've never seen a trouse, but firmly believe they were common in England prior to the year 1000, but were hunted out shortly thereafter hence could never have been introduced to North America. Still they gave their name to the heath-resistant leggings worn to hunt them.
Also stupid name-pants. Consider the question: What does a dog do that a man steps in?
