Found this "SUPER" South Bend 1300A. I believe this is one of the harder SB's to come by. Whites book says $200-$300? Reel is in great shape, could use a good oiling. Box is solid, but the top is scraped up. Also has Papers & wrench. It is for sale, I would like to know a fair value on it. Thank you...Greg Weaver (NFLCC)
And welcome to the ORCA board. Your reel certainly looks like a nice one. As for Carl White's estimates, take them with a large dose of salt as they are notoriously high. Stu Lawson's Price Guide shows a reel like yours in 8/9 condition selling for $125 (with a leather case).
Perhaps some of our South Bend scholars (Len, Jim, Arne) will chime in and share their expertise. Hope this helps.
Greg, the 1300A is a 1932 reel. My book has it at about $150 because of its relative rarity, but the going market value has been lower. The graphics on the box are unique to that reel, but it's in such poor shape that I don't believe it will add much. The condition of the reel is so good that I would think you should get 90-100$ from someone who needs it. I've always said it was a reel far ahead of its time compared to contemporary reels. Good luck! Jim Madden
