Looking for Pflueger Quadruple reels

Post by Robin Sayler »

I am trying to find some more variations of reels marked with pflueger and quadruple. Also if you have any reels marked simply quadruple I would also like to see them.

Please email me with pictures if you have any you think I may like. I have tons of traders or cash.

I've got one for you, metal band with raised hard rubber plates. Pictured in the 1904 catalog. It'll take me some time to dig it out...

I understand this is a old request, but I found its not easy to find much info on these reels. Here is a photo of one that came into my possession though my grandfather.

Looks like a Montague, nifty oil cap on tail side.

Thanks for the Montague identification, I was also trying to figure out who made this reel, when I found this post. I was originally thinking it was Pflueger after I saw the earlier posts, but haven't been able to find much other information.

That is a unique oil cap. I have a lot of Montagues and seen more but never that oil cap. Could it be an add-on? Or perhaps something entirely different that is just screwed on?

Could it be a valve stem cap?

I guess it could be. I just ran out to my car, and grabbed one off my tire, it also fits.

So approximately what year could this reel be? I took it outside the other day, and was surprised to find that it actually casts pretty well. It's noisy, but works.

I think it's a bicycle tire valve. I've seen three or four reels--all different makers--with these on them.

Hey, you gotta use what you can!

Hard to pin down an exact year but I would guess it was made in the mid to late 1920's.
