first of all I want presenter me to your community. I’m an Italian spinner, I collect a mini series of vintage reels (Abu Cardinal 3, 4, 6) to use it on fishing action. For this reason I have development a little ability of maintenance and repair it (just little operations like cleaning, lubrification and replacement of easy parts like springs, nut etc.)
Some month ago, I bought by eBay, two Abu Cardinal 3 (one from 1979 and one from 1980), thinking to use it for light spinning action.
Unfortunately the newer of them (1979) has a problem: It does not receive its spool ! I’ll try to explain better.
When I put the spool into the reel, it does not catch the main shaft by the slotted PIN.
I tried to do any visual and measuring comparison with another working reel (1980) without success, the slotted PIN does not permit to hook up the spool on the main shaft, but everithings seems OK.
Could you help me?
