Rev. Ike was an artful black evangelist back in the 60s, 70s. He sent out all sorts of pamplets with advice, foremost suggesting that money be sent to him (He always empahsized that checks be made to "The Reverend Ike, NOT the Church Secretary", suggesting some nefarious bookkeeping somewhere along the line). His philosophy was one of the most profoundly true of all time:
"The lack of money is the root of all evil!"
He stated that if you sent money to him you would be prayerfully blessed with soon-to-be bestowed wealth. He reportedly had a stable full of Rolls Royces, presumably one for each day of the week. Worked for the Reverend!
Now the "Government" is telling us the same thing. If you just send us money all will be rewared with the following: A shiney new car, a salvaged mortgage, health insurance for everyone, guaranteed retirement income, and a soon-to-be cooling climate for all Earthlings. Never mind if there is a bit of a gap between likely income and total outgo. the "Government" will manage that-someday.
Consider the following data (source The Nashville Tennessean, 8/09/2009 Business Section):
The unfunded liability (the difference between promised benefits and supporting taxes) of Social Security and Disability, and Medicare is currently $43.46 trillion, and increae of nearly $12 trillion in the last five years alone and growing.
So what's a few trillion more, right? Reverend, where are you now? We need your blessing!
Bad Bob
