Hand made reel

Post by werpmolens »

Hello Collectors,

Just wanted to share a " field find" a nice hand made reel.

The reel is so well made and works like a clock, spool is spinning in free spool very good.
The drag system works as it should be, also the " reverse" pawl.

Now I was just wondering what to do?

Open it? or leave it as it is , because it is home made and I do not know what will pop out if I open it?

Any comment welcome.

Very cool reel !

If curiosity has the best of you and you have faith in your ability to get the reel back together, then take a peak inside. But, if you are hesitant, I'd leave it alone.

Nice find.

Hello,

I already opened it and cleaned it on the inside, very well made all good material .
Took it apart screw after screw and made a schematic so I knew were every screw came from, easy to put it back together.

Nice reel for sure, any ideas about what reel was copied?

In my opinion, nothing was copied. The maker was very creative and quite original.
