So, the question is...do these things taste like carp? Are they edible if you put enough bbq sauce on them? One would think they could be used for something other than entertainment videos...guess they our ours for life, eh?

Must taste good to somebody. One of the viewer comments says there's a pretty good market for them. Round 'um up and ship 'um out. Maybe it should be made legal, if not already, to surround net or purse seine them for commercial aquaculture feed.

In the second video, did you hear the fellow say "job security..." as the other worker tosses the live ones back?

So, maybe the answer is Carp Sushi! Convince the Japanese that it is the true delicacy...much to be preferred over bluefin tuna...that would save the bluefin...and we should be able to sell those carp at the discount price of 100 bucks a fish...til it catches on...then we go for the serious bucks! :D

Its a shame they won't take a hook. I'd love to fish them to extinction. I've eaten smoked carp and it wasn't bad- different kind of course. I wonder if they've ruined the Rock river and Hennipen canal where I grew up.

lets think of some uses...

1. fertilizer
2. dog food- there are starving sled dogs in Alaska because of poor chum salmon runs on the yukon.
3. fillet-o-fish sandwiches- I hear the hoki supply is running out
4. bio fuel?- put some research into it Al

Jason,

I have seen people (on TV) catch them on a line by using 4-5 sweet corn kernels threaded onto a hook . They are a pest in Australia . In some States if you catch one you can be fined for NOT killing it . They do a lot of damage to the creek/river banks looking for worms Competitions are held for cartching these vermin to try and thin them out.

a company from Minnesota is harvesting them but even they say they are not making a dent in the population. Gotta do something drastic I say.
