The math is this: 1.5 billion dollars and counting financial loss related to flooding in Davidson County alone in real estate and infrastructure-and this does not include loss of personal property, most of which is on street curbs in the flooded areas awating pickup. Landfill spot yet to be decided. Great outpouring of assistance from neighbors and strangers citywide. A concert by country music folks here raised 1.5 million dollars Thursday night. CSX RR west to Memphis is inoperable perhaps for months due to loss of bridges.
One amazing aspect of this: Only about 5% of Nashvillians had flood damage!

Flood damage
Bob:
As horrible as the damage is, it is heartening to hear that your townspeople are helping one another in time of need. Good folks for sure. And if there is a positive side to this, there will be plenty of work to keep folks occupied, which is in itself a good thing.
In the aftermath of the earthquake and fire which destroyed much of San Frasncisco in 1906, my great grandfather, who was a carpenter, was kept busy (to say the least).
And certainly not to make light of this disaster, there are words of encouragement to ponder:
"That which does not kill us makes us stronger".
We are all pulling for you Robert.
