info on a plexy reel
tripped across a fly reel today marked "home-made", with appr. 4 in maroon plexiglass side-plates...reel is appr. 2 in wide...smaller diameter clear plexy ring at the crank with visible gear inside...can't tell if this is a drag, but that's what it looks like. Dealer wanted nearly a bill for it, so i didn't scoop it up on spec, but thought this cryptic description might be enough of a hint for some of you that posted in the earlier onslaught re this type of reel. Sorry...just hate it when posts offer such little info

well, as I recall (and my mind is getting feebler by the day...now, what was I saying?..oh...) about the only thing common is the us of plastic for the sides. It had metal x-members ala a standard reel..seem to recall that it had a regular handle, as well, rather than just the 'grips' attached to the sideplates. Frankly, it was better made than the one you show.
Maybe one of the SPRIG reels?
John, maybe you can find the reel you saw in one of these posts?
