Sorry for this decidedly non-reel post, but I know we have have chemist and metalurgist who read our posts and who knows maybe even a vet. Here is my problem. I have taken to decorating around my reel collection with fishing related items. Some of the said items are metal minnow buckets, all shapes and sizes. I have them in a row stacked two high along the upstairs wall. The problem? I also have a male cat, or should I say my wife does. Unfortunately the cat has slightly more seniority than I and I doubt if he will leave before I do.
I don't know what the animals gripe is with the buckets but from time to time he autographs them in his own personal way. I rinse them in water when I notice his signature but am hesitant to scrub as some of the paint jobs appear to be fragile already.
Anyone one know of a delicate way to remove cat urine without much stress on the buckets original art work?
Thanks for any insight.

Thanks for the tip Ron. Now, I have diluted baking soda, do you think a paint brush to apply will be both effctive and gentle or would soaking a towel in the solution and compressing it to the surface with out rubbing be better?

You can take a water pistol and fill it with vinegar. Every time the cat gets close to the items you want to protect, squirt him with the pistol. It will take a couple weeks to teach him not to get near these items. If this solution isn't quick enough, you can take a .22 pistol and teach him in one night. If you do the latter, you can move down here to the sunshine state 'cause I have a feeling you won't be welcome in Bronson Michagan.
Just tryin' to help!

Harve:
I once gave this cat a birds eye view of the property when he was bold enough to spray right in front of me. I chased him around the house and once I caught him gave him flight from the deck to the fence. Just like the ugly reel toss. It was winter so his landing was soft due to the snow.
The old beast is alot older now and I don't have the heart to give him flight any more. He kinda grows on you. Thanks for the offer of living arrangements but I haven't had to dodge any hurricanes in the 45 years I've lived here in Michigan. Only two tornado's. Must admit I do miss the sun and 60 degree temps during winter.
Southern Ohio may be where I need to be. Will Bronson's work on the Ohio river?
