Also received my "Reel News" today. Will be reading this weekend. After all it will another 2 months if I read it tooooooo quickly! Thanks again for a speedy delivery.
Just read thru most of mine this AM and really enjoyed it. Stew, great Geezerdom segment...but did you ever find your car keys? And really enjoyed Milt's little foray into the Bronson combo rod. i got mine when I was 12 +/- a year for my birthday (around 1960)...Levines' wholesale house in Terre Haute. I still fish with that rod/reel...got a bit of set in the pole, but it's still a nice user friendly combo and works great. i remember taking grief for getting a Bronson from my buddies..after all, everyone new Bronson only made junk..that is, until they made a couple casts with the thing! Kinda relates to the article by Phil re the different levels of equipment the makers put out. In any event, yes, that cowling will stick on you and it is easily bent! I had managed to do that after one particularly long stint in the garage between uses...left a bur protruding on the inside...i still see that blackshore river runt spook sailing like a bullet across the lake the next time I used it...unfortunately, it wasn't hooked to the line, which had caught on the snag and snapped ...a bit of TLC and it has been back on the front of the boat ever since. sorry for the trip down memory lane, but I imagine only the Geezers are still reading anyway...and they can't remember why they started in the first place, so it's all new stuff
Got it, read it, loved it! Phil, when am I going to be able to buy this on the newsstand? It's easily as good as anything sold there. The article on the Langley was great! (not that I'm biased just because I own a Zebco 310). By the way, the front of mine does say "Model 310" but it's in type so small I had to fire up my scanning electron microscope to see it.
Ben's article was outstanding! I'm really looking foreward to the next one on the Cardinal 4s.
