Help with two bakelite big game handles?

Post by drexelantiques »

I hope you might help me find out what make/model of reels these two handles fit. The Green handle is marked 24-57 and the metal part is 3 3/4 inches long the bakelite grip is 3 inches.

The Orange/Gold one is marked 24-56 and the metal part is 3 3/4 inches long, the bakelite grip is 2 3/4 inches long, and slightly smaller in diameter.

Thank you in advance for your help. These were in a box of parts reels I bought, but none of the reels were big enough to have used these handles.

Not sure if these handles were stock equipment on reels, or were aftermarket. I hope you can help.

Handles

Those are both Penn handles. The 24-56 works on reels like the Penn 49 and 500; the other is for a 6/0 Senator. The older handles like you have are much nicer than the current models.

Thank you, I thought I had seen a handle like this on a 6/0 penn one time, but the different holes in the handle threw me. Much appreciated.
