I have a very nice "Taylor" reel made in Australia. The reel is made from non corrosive aluminum with star drag, optional check, anti reverse, ball bearing and a 4 1/2 in diameter spool. I have the original instruction book and the certificate of inspection stating that the reel was made by R. R. Taylor & Co., Artarmon, N.S.W., Australia on 27 May 1958. I also have two extra spools for the reel. In researching Taylor reels I have only found a small amount of information to use as a price guide. Given the condition of the reel and the fact that it comes with extra spools I am going to ask $500 but would consider offers. Shipping will be negotiated with the buyer, whether in the US or overseas.

"Taylor" Reel
I haven't had much interest in this reel so I thought I'd try to post a picture of it. I'm guessing that it isn't a widely known reel. I saw a couple advertised on ebay in Australia and in a newspaper there, but the prices varied pretty widely. As I said originally, I'm not sure of the value so would be open to offers.

Steve: Is this your reel pics?

i just went to your photobucket site and clicked on the bottom form of each pic address..then pasted here. you can make it easier if you just rename the pics in order before putting them on photobucket...then you just need to paste the same url addy several times and change the names to match the other pics.
Really neat reel, BTW! What's it's main mission in life?

"Taylor" Reel
John, in response to your question regarding intended use, the instruction book states - "The "Taylor" Reel is intended primarily for beach casting and the landing of fish of goodly size". I had information that the company was still in business in the 1980s but don't know if they were still making reels then.
Thanks again for your help in posting the pictures.
